It has been a very busy and successful week of Scottish sport.

Scottish hurdler Eilidh Child received positive news as she was selected for Great Britain’s 4×400 metre relay team for the upcoming IAAF World Relays held in the Bahamas. The event represents the first opportunity for the countries competing to earn qualification for the 2016 Rio Olympics relay races. Eilidh has had an impressive last few years which was topped off by winning the silver medal at last year’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Here’s a fans perspective of the final race at Hampden.

The snooker World Championship began in earnest last Saturday with a host of Scottish players making the main draw. It’s fantastic to see the sport doing so well in Scotland, with John Higgins, Graeme Dott, and the new star of Scottish snooker Anthony McGill, all progressing through to the second round.

It was a weekend of football to savour for the neutral, and the underdogs. Hibs suffered Scottish cup semi-final agony against Falkirk as they were beaten downed by a Craig Sibbald goal. It means Falkirk will play against Inverness in the final at Hampden. They secured an unlikely victory against league leaders Celtic in a 3-2 thriller that ran on into extra time.
